WHO IS MICHAEL?

In my work I endeavour to portray life in a positive light, to show the love I have for the world, its cultures and the environment in which we all live. The interpretation between colour, texture and the way that people interact with their surroundings are very important to me. If in my own way I can use my art to bring love, happiness, and the appreciation of life into the lives of people who see my work then I have achieved my goal. In the end it is up to the individual.
I work in oils, watercolours, inks and pastels. I do not like to tie myself down to any one media or subject matter.

What are your next projects?  And your next trip?
Currently I am trapped in Andalucia, when I will be able to travel who knows? I spend my days painting and occassionaly writing. Re-living past journeys with pen and brush, I paint everyday, waking to bird song and after drinking tea, answering post I start work, normally around ten o’clock and work till five. After dinner I love to sit on one of my terracces and watch the sun go down. I long for the return of the House Martins they are due anyday now, every evening they put on an air display for me and I sit with a glass of red wine and watch.
I have a one man show in Venice at the Scuola Granda San Teodoo from May 29th till 7th June. Not for me the veiws of the grand canal, Canaletto did that oh so well and many others have tried to live up to his incredible skill. My paintings are of real Venice, it’s squares, bridges and above all it’s people. I am also exhibiting one painting in Copenhagen at the ‘Meet Art’ exhibtion.
Apart from this I have no set plans, I have been invited to Pakistan to paint and I would love to go back to Argentina there is so much viberance there, Buenoes Aires is like Barcelona in many ways but to the beat of the tango.
