WHO IS MOMEN?
I am an associate professor at the department of Craft, University of Dhaka and visual Artist in Bangladesh. My work have been recognized both nationally and internationally with 13 awards and have been feature in 3 solo and 62 major group Art exhibition. I joined Civitella Ranieri Foundation Fellowship 2017, Italy. I visited the deferent museum in Paris, France, 2017. I have experience of working in many media as a student of Craft. But now installation art and painting through oil colour or acrylic colour are done most through mixed media. In the case of installation the environment of Bangladesh is used as a subject. The environment of Bangladesh means the environment of the whole world. For instance drying up of river, as a result boat is not moving there, the indigenous fishes are getting extinct. The production of crop is hampered. The environment is polluted in serious dimension because of having direct connection with pesticide used in the agriculture, wastage of tannery, various types of chemicals of the factory. Besides the trees are cut, forestry is being destroyed, it seems that the people of this country are occupied in destruction of environment. The species of birds are being reduced without any obstruction as the habitation of birds are destroyed due to reduction of trees. Installation art is presented by implicating earth, sand sometimes by creating the environment of water, sometimes with the tradition of Bangladesh and sometimes boat, bird, fish etc, are manufactured by curving with rejected wood after selection of such subject.
In the case of painting by making folk culture, ceremony, faith and folk form of Bangladesh etc. as subject painting is made in the heading of ‘folk thoughts’. The black colour remains more allover canvas or paper. The Folk Artists encourage me of my imagination starting drawing everywhere and anywhere. I get new dimension. Totally easy techniques. Black ink and little red color. In my Art Works, I add something new namely-Bengali Letters and various Symbol, which is my own style. Seeking for indigenous art materials and eagerness for backing to root are present in my painting. So, the name of the paintings is “Demotic thought”
