Description
Guido Verhoek, 1947. Teacher for arts and geography
Verhoek’s oeuvre derives from natural processes of the northern Vosges. Rock and stone decompose, even if they bear more resistance. The elements’ affect and the relative abrasiveness of rock form an area of tension. Eventually, the rock will crack and pulverize. He says about it:” My objects represent this tenseness: at first glance, the rock is solid, sturdy; at a closer look it appears brittle and not everlasting”. All of this gives his abstract works an architectonical nature.
