Nora van Klingeren (1956, Amsterdam). Makes textile, mostly wall-hangings and in combination with construction in steel and left over materials. Felt is always part of the work. Silk which is handpainted and screenprinted are incorporated in the felt, creating more structure and depth. “My work always starts with something that inspires me. That automatically leads to the title of the work. Next step is a rough sketch of the story I want to tell”. Much of her work is part of a serie, a complete story of which she writes small columns.
Nora van Klingeren is originally trained as an architect. After years of project management she made a side-step to more creative handwork.
She came across the felting, an amazing and almost magical process.
On the field of textile she is self-educated, but feeling for form and proportion come from architectural schooling.
